FAQ - "What night(s) will my team practice?" - You will not know your practice or game schedule until you are assigned to a team, but if there is a weeknight when you cannot practice please note that in your registration and we will do our best to accommodate your schedule.
FAQ - "When does the season start/end?" - Practices at the Coach Pitch, Intramural, 12U, and 15U levels will begin in late-March. Tee Ball practices will begin in early-April. Games typically begin in mid-April depending upon the weather. The season will end by the weekend following the end of the AACPS school year.
Tee-Ball: Tee-Ball is intended to introduce boys and girls to the sport of baseball. This primary level of instruction is geared towards developing love for the game, basic understanding of the rules of play, and beginning to develop fundamental skills of throwing, fielding, and hitting. This league is appropriate for players who have had one year of tee-ball as well as those entirely new to the sport. Where appropriate, coaches may begin pitching to some or all players at some point during the season. Tee-Ball is typically an in-house program in which GORC Teams play other GORC Teams. Spring 2025 Tee-Ball players should expect to practice on one weeknight and to have a practice or game each Saturday.
Coach-Pitch: Like tee-ball, coach-pitch Baseball is intended to introduce boys and girls to the sport of baseball. This primary/secondary level of instruction is geared towards enhancing the basic fundamental skills of throwing, fielding, and hitting. This league is appropriate for players who have had one or two years of tee-ball as well as those entirely new to the sport. In an effort to develop hitting and fielding technique and speed game play, coaches will pitch to their own players throughout the course of the games. Depending on the number of teams, coach-pitch may be entirely in-house (GORC only) or may play teams from other nearby organizations. Each week, Spring 2025 Coach-Pitch players should expect to have one weeknight practice and one Saturday practice or game.
Intramural/10U: The Intramural program gives our players their first taste of competitive baseball. Most players will have at least one year of coach-pitch baseball experience although first-time players are also welcome! Teams will compete both in-house against other GORC teams and in the Anne Arundel Baseball Cooperative, which includes other accredited community recreation councils around the Anne Arundel County region. Evaluations will be held in March to determine team placement. Evaluation information will be emailed to all registered players. Each week, Spring 2025 Intramural/10U players should expect to have two weeknight practices/games and a Saturday game.
12U: Teams will compete in the Anne Arundel Baseball Cooperative, which includes other accredited community recreation councils around the Anne Arundel County region. Depending upon the number of players participating, evaluations may be held to determine particular team placement. Evaluation date, time, and location will be sent via email and posted to the website. Each week, Spring 2025 GORC 12U players should expect to have two weeknight practices/games and a Saturday game.
